Jacob Graybill built the first mill here around 1780. The property later became the Mount Hope Iron Furnace which was established by Peter Grubb in 1784. The estate remained in the Grubb family for over 150 years. Today, the estate is known as the Mount Hope Winery home of the Pennsylvania Renaissance Faire. Milling operations ended in 1904 when the mill burned down and was rebuilt as a barn. The mill is on private property adjacent to the Mount Hope Winery.
