Aka Highland Mill

Jacob Denlinger was the first to build a mill here in 1808. Henry Rohrer took ownership in 1834. His son, Christian built a new brick mill in 1852 and enlarged it in 1879. The mill generated electricity for the surrounding area in 1917. John Rohrer augmented the water power with a diesel engine around 1930.
An interesting feature of this mill was a cable system that brought power from the mill up to the barn to run the threshing machine. The cable ran from the mill to a gear tower where the line made a 90 degree turn to continue to the barn. This tower can still be seen on the mill property. The mill produced stone ground flour until 2006 when it was destroyed by a fire.
The mill is located at 271 Rohrer Mill Road, Ronks, PA.
