Windom Mill

Aka Landis Mill

Windom Mill

Samuel Herr built the first mill at this location in 1779. Jacob Kauffman took over the following year. A fire destroyed that first mill in 1810 but it was rebuilt. It began operating as a cider mill in 1890 and was used for a while as a creamery. The Windom post office opened in the mill in 1899. In the 20th century, it produced corn meal to be used in the manufacture of linoleum. Today it is used for farm storage and the lower level is rented privately as a small event venue.
